Relief for Sciatic Nerve Pain

Sciatica is a painful and testing condition. Those who suffer from it may think of finding relief as unimaginable.  In fact, it is possible to be pain free and by following two easy steps one may be well on the way to recovery. Prior to considering any treatment plan it is necessary to understand what leads to this condition so that steps may be taken to avoid it in the future.

Sciatic nerve pain doesn’t happen overnight, it often is the result of a number of small injuries, which keep on harming the body over the period of years. It originates in the lower back area, and then passes through the pelvic area and the Piriformis muscles. The nerve will react and pain will occur if any or all of these three body parts or areas are not in a healthy and normal state and for some reason not functioning optimally.  The pain might vary in severity as well which generally depends if one or more than one area is affected. Sciatic nerve pain relief may be achieved by following two easy steps:

1.    The first step is aimed at getting relief from Sciatic nerve pain. It is also called as symptom based relief. It is very important for the patient to have a break from the intense pain. Once the pain is under control, it becomes easier to move on to the next step.

2.    Second step is the treatment of the cause. This means finding out what and where the cause of the problem lies in the path of the sciatic nerve. It could be any of the three parts mentioned above. Once the exact cause has been determined a treatment plan may be discussed. Temporary relief may be achieved by targeting the symptoms but long lasting relief will only be possible if the cause is treated.
